The violent assault of Elizardo Saenz

According to the ECPD, at 9:33 a.m. they received a call about a stolen vehicle in the 1200 Block of N. 18th St.

Officers responded but were not able to find the vehicle (a black Volkswagen)

Later, officers received another call about the stolen vehicle

The officers responded and spotted the vehicle

When police attempted to pull the driver of the car, Elizardo Saenz, over, he fled

During the chase, Saenz twice drove into oncoming traffic

After hitting the curb, the vehicle came to a stop and Saenz fled on foot

As the officers caught him, they claimed he resisted arrest

However, the video shows no signs of resistance

The officers violently beat Saenz with batons as he pleaded with them to stop

As the K9 was tearing into the suspect’s flesh, officers were yelling ‘stop resisting’ continuing the attack

Saenz was arrested and booked into the Imperial County Jail on charges of felony possession of stolen property, felony evading with wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property, misdemeanor hit and run and misdemeanor resisting arrest
