The shooting of a mentally ill homeless man

LAST UPDATE
Both of the officers remain on administrative leave while an investigation is underway
CHECK THE BACKGROUND
KEEP INFORMED ON THIS NEWS

On November 30, Baltimore Police Officers responded to a 911 call about a homeless man who was beating his cane against a pole

During the 9-1-1 call, the dispatcher specifically asked the caller whether the man was threatening people with knives, to which the caller responded that he wasn’t

However, police officers obviously escalated the situation by screaming at the mentally ill man rather than trying to calm him down

Officers ordered the man to put down his knife and after some minutes one of the officers fired a taser at the homeless man

Almost immediately another officer fired his gun at him

At least five shots were fired at the man, causing him to immediately fall to the ground

The man was taken to the hospital and now is in a stable condition
